Door Check Spring

No.CS-003
Metal Compression Spring for Door Check (Door Checker Spring)
The door check spring (also called a door checker spring) is a precision compression spring used in automotive door check mechanisms to control door movement and hold the door open at set positions. GL Springs manufactures it in alloy steel with a 2.4 mm wire diameter — custom-engineered to your door weight, force, and dimensional requirements for reliable, repeatable performance over the life of the vehicle.

Description

How It Works
As the door opens, the door check mechanism compresses the spring, storing energy and creating distinct holding positions (detents) at set angles — typically around 30°, 60°, and 90°. These positions stop the door from swinging freely, protecting it in tight parking spaces and on inclines. When the door closes, the spring releases its stored energy to assist the return, reducing strain on the hinges and latch over time.

Engineering & Quality
Made from high-grade alloy steel and heat-treated for fatigue resistance, the spring withstands millions of open-close cycles without losing force. Because door weight and "feel" vary by vehicle, every parameter — free length, outer diameter, spring rate, and load — is engineered to your specific door system, so the action is neither too loose nor too stiff. 100% automated optical (CCD) inspection ensures batch-to-batch consistency for high-volume automotive production.

Proven in Production
We supply this door check spring at 2,000,000+ pieces per month for an automotive door-checker manufacturer, with Dacromet coating for 720-hour corrosion resistance.
